Monarch causes merriment while unveiling his new portrait
Hi Royal Clubbers,
Yesterday I wrote about how King Charles is a man on a mission. There’s been no such thing as a “soft return” to public-facing duties for our hard-working monarch.
To prove my point, earlier this morning he held his first investiture at Windsor Castle since his cancer diagnosis, knighting the Archbishop of Canterbury and bestowing a damehood on bestselling author Dame Jilly Cooper.
He then also unveiled a new portrait of himself at Buckingham Palace.
British artist Jonathan Yeo was at the special occasion and after Charles pulled the curtain to reveal the striking red painting, the King was quick to make a joke.
