WATCH: Kate reveals cancer diagnosis in powerful video
The Princess has started a course of preventative chemotherapy
Hi Royal Clubbers,
We've had the really devastating news that the Princess of Wales is undergoing preventative chemotherapy, which she started almost one month ago.
This is a lot to digest, and we're sure like all of us, you'll be sending your best thoughts and well wishes to the Princess and her family.
She has filmed a video with BBC Studios in Windsor, which you can watch below, and in her true positive spirit, the Princess says she is "well and getting stronger every day".
She explained that at the time of her abdominal surgery in January, which was successful, it was thought that her condition was non-cancerous. However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present.
So she has now begun this first round of preventative chemotherapy and is focusing on a full recovery.
Understandably, it has taken time for Kate to publicly share the news. She's been processing it with her husband Prince William these past few weeks, and the couple have spent time deciding on how best to tell their three young children Prince George, ten, Princess Charlotte, eight, and Prince Louis, five, in an age-appropriate way.
The children have now broken up for the Easter school holidays and have the next month off, so the Waleses will no doubt spend the next few weeks enjoying quality family time, away from the glare of the public spotlight. It also makes sense why this update from Kensington Palace was released today.
You can watch Princess Kate's powerful message below:
Now the sad truth is out perhaps the voracious media will leave the Princess alone. Do they honestly think that the public want to hear the constant drip drip of information about our First Family. If people really loved them they would want what is best for them, to be left in peace. The Princess will be fine, I was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer in 2011 but with the expert care I received at Derby Royal I am fit & well tho monitored regularly. I wish HRH a full recovery in the peace of her home with her family.
Bless her and her family. So young to go through so much.
