Hello Royal Clubbers, it's Millie here.

It’s been a busy week of royal watching with the state visit by the Macrons and plenty of pomp and circumstance.

But before we dive into the best royal pictures and the diary, let's take a little look back at some royal history.

On This Day…

On 12 July 927, King Æthelstan became the first English king to establish control over most of the north, when several northern kings accepted his overlordship at Eamont, Cumbria.

Athelstan, King of England

As King Alfred the Great’s grandson, Æthelstan followed through the dream of a united England. The 12 July is often cited as the day when England became a unified country for the first time, bringing together Viking and Anglo-Saxon kingdoms under his rule.

Æthelstan was known for his military success throughout his reign, piety and engagement in European politics.

King Frederik

King Frederik of Denmark

Queen Camilla wasn’t the only major royal who graced Wimbledon as King Frederik of Denmark (looking every inch the tennis umpire) was spotted in the Royal Box on Monday. If his animated facial expressions are anything to go by, he enjoyed himself immensely.

King Charles and Queen Camilla

What an elegant royal pairing! It’s been a very busy week for the King and Queen who hosted Brigitte and Emmanuel Macron for a state visit. Their glamorous outfits on Tuesday were quite something to behold. Personally I think the pair are looking more and more striking by the day.

Queen Letizia was the picture of glamour on Tuesday at the 105th Edition of the ABC Journalism awards at Espacio ABC in Madrid. Royal fans will remember that the Spanish queen was a journalist herself before marrying into the royal family.

One more photo of the state banquet! There’s nothing I love more than seeing the royals all dressed up, and the Prince and Princess of Wales did not disappoint when they attended alongside King Charles, Queen Camilla and other royals.

Royal diary

The royals are beginning to wind down ahead of their summer break, but here's what you can look forward to this week.
