My Lover's Knot dilemma
Catherine looked resplendent in the diadem last night but Danielle thinks other tiaras would have suited her even more
Hi Royal Clubbers, Danielle here, with some fashion analysis on the Princess of Wales' French state banquet look and a rather reluctant confession.
Catherine stepped out in a deep red caped Givenchy gown, teaming it with the Lover's Knot tiara and Greville Chandelier earrings.
The Lover's Knot was made for Queen Mary of Teck by Garrard in 1913, with the royal taking inspiration from the Cambridge Lover's Knot diadem, worn by Princess Augusta, Duchess of Cambridge.
The jewels were passed down and eventually made their way to Queen Elizabeth II's collection.
In 1981, she gifted the tiara to her new daughter-in-law, Lady Diana Spencer, upon her marriage to then Prince Charles.
Catherine debuted the headpiece at the diplomatic reception in 2015 and it has become her most-worn tiara.
As someone with an avid interest in fashion and royal jewellery, I have to admit it's not my favourite diadem.
