Princess Catherine's Wimbledon wardrobe
The Princess of Wales always looks ace when she attends The Championships...
Wimbledon is a highlight in the calendars of sports fans and the royal family alike, with endless tennis lovers vying for a spot on centre court.
There are few summer traditions as quintessentially British as strawberries and cream, Pimm’s on the lawn, cries of “C’mon Andy” (or should that now be ‘Jack’?!) – and the Princess of Wales making a flawless appearance in the Royal Box at Wimbledon.
As patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, the Princess of Wales traditionally presents the trophies to the winners of the men's and women's finals, so is expected to attend the 2025 championship – she even made the effort last year during cancer treatment, with the ceremony marking her second major public appearance of 2024.
With that in mind, I thought today would be a great opportunity to predict what the Princess of Wales might wear to watch one of her favourite sports.
But first, let’s have a closer look at her iconic Wimbledon wardrobe.
Acing it
Each year, her courtside style hits that sweet spot between polished and breezy, capturing the spirit of the event while subtly nodding to her role as patron of the All England Lawn Tennis Club.
Personally, I think Wimbledon is when we see Catherine’s fashion sense really shine: think crisp tailoring, fresh silhouettes, and a masterclass in how to dress elegantly in the heat (without a single hair out of place – how does she do it?).
Whether she’s in a structured blazer or a floaty midi, she always balances tradition with a hint of playfulness. And while she never upstages the tennis, she serves up sartorial winner after winner.
Recreate these four Catherine classics
Let’s take a look at some of her standout Wimbledon looks over the years – and why they work so well. If you’re feeling inspired to recreate some of these looks (without the royal budget), I’ve pulled together a few of my favourite Princess of Wales-inspired finds.

1. The timeless white dress
A white dress is a Wimbledon classic. Catherine has worn white more than once to SW19, and with good reason – it’s a nod to the players’ strict dress code and a go-to for summer sophistication. One of her most memorable? That tailored white midi by Suzannah, reworn in 2023. With its cinched waist and pleated skirt, it was both ladylike and modern.
Style note: White doesn’t have to be boring – it’s all about the fabric and the fit. Catherine often chooses structured cotton or silk blends that hold their shape and photograph beautifully in the sunlight. If she opts for a similar look for 2025, I think she’d go for a more modern take on this dress. I’m loving this Karen Millen sleeveless trench dress for £62 (or $174.50 if you’re reading this in the States).

2. The bold green moment
When she stepped out in that vivid green Dolce & Gabbana dress (complete with gold buttons and a sharp collar), it was an instant fashion headline. A departure from her softer neutrals, this shade of green popped perfectly against the court’s backdrop.
Style note: Catherine often chooses green for events and this Wimbledon appearance was no exception. I’ve been inspired by Catherine’s love of green, and I’ve found this gorgeous Nobody’s Child dress, £85 / $170 to add to my closet.
3. Soft pastels with punch
Catherine’s Self Portrait dress was another ace. Feminine, floaty, and regal without being stuffy, it showed her flair for tonal dressing, and her understanding of what works in a setting where every detail is scrutinised.
Style note: Pastels keep things soft but striking. Catherine often pairs hers with sleek blow-dries and subtle but regal jewellery. Inspired? Me too. This apple green dress from Ghost (another royal favourite brand) hits all the right notes. It’s priced at £129 and if you’re in the us, it’s $230.

4. Dotty for polka dots
Polka dots at Wimbledon? Absolutely. The Princess of Wales has worn countless polka dots to Wimbledon over the years, from her navy polka dot Alessandra Rich dress to her chic polka dot pleated skirt from the same brand. It’s one of her go-to prints.
Style note: Polka dots suit everyone. I’m a sucker for the print, and while the weather forecast looks good, if she were to attend Wimbledon, I could picture her in this Rixo polka dot ‘Florida’ dress costing £295 / $375.

Whether she’s clapping in the Royal Box or handing out trophies, Catherine’s Wimbledon wardrobe always reflects the same qualities we associate with her overall style: considered, confident and quietly commanding.
I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us this year. I hope you enjoyed reading this post. Please share your thoughts in the comments box below and tell me your predictions.
