Yesterday, I asked if you liked dressing up for Halloween. Given that so many of you live in the US, where going all-out with Halloween costumes is a big tradition, I must confess I was surprised by the result.
While 19 per cent of you enjoy dressing up, 81 per cent don’t.
Royal Clubber Michael shared his reasoning, which I can understand: “I gave up on dressing up for Halloween when I was 14-years-old. I still enjoy the costumes and the children who come for the treats. The decorations of the houses on my paper route still amaze me in how much people really enjoy the time and day.”
I’ve been enjoying the decorations in my local area too!

As you may have read, Princess Leonor of Spain is 20 today! I hope you’ll join me in wishing her a very happy birthday.
The Princess of Asturias is in her third year of military training at the General Air and Space Academy in San Javier. Of this next step, she wrote: “Today I begin the third stage of my military training at this General Air and Space Academy. I look forward with enthusiasm to this course, during which I will have the opportunity to begin my aeronautical training and, alongside my classmates, learn the practical and theoretical aspects of military aviation.”
It seems to me that Princess Leonor is incredibly dutiful and diligent! I especially admire her military commitment. She follows in the footsteps of royals like Prince William and Prince Harry, whose military service goes hand in hand with their royal role.

Queen Sofia attended the Thai embassy in Madrid yesterday, where she signed the book of condolences for the death of Queen Sirikit of Thailand. Sirikit was queen from from 28 April 1950 to 13 October 2016 as the wife of King Bhumibol Adulyadej, who she met in Paris where her father served as the Thai ambassador to France.
There will be mourning in Thailand for a full year, with flags flying at half mast at all government buildings, schools, and state-owned corporations for 30 days. Members of the population will wear black, white, or sober-hued clothing for up to 90 days. Those in official government roles will wear black for a full year.
