Hello Royal Clubbers,
Following Emily Nash’s video tour of a windswept Balmoral yesterday, we’re back in Scotland today where King Charles and Queen Camilla have kicked off Holyrood Week, also known as Royal Week.
It's a time to celebrate Scottish culture, achievement and community – and typically the King and Queen would spend the next few days visiting various regions in the country, meeting Scots from all walks of life and hosting thousands at the Palace of Holyroodhouse garden party.
This year is a little different, however, because of the upcoming General Election on Thursday, which means the King will be cutting his trip short and travelling back to London to welcome the incoming Prime Minister.
Earlier today, Charles was formally welcomed to Scotland in the age-old Ceremony of the Keys, where he was handed the keys to the city of Edinburgh on a red velvet cushion by the Lord Provost.
Camilla, meanwhile, hosted a reception to celebrate those who work to promote Scottish literacy. And she even had the chance to catch up with one of her favourite authors (find out whom by watching the video below).
Afterwards, the King and Queen ended their first day of Royal Week by hosting a garden party at their Scottish residence, accompanied by the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh.
