Happy Saturday, Royal Clubbers.
As it’s the weekend, we thought we’d let you into a little club secret… While we have members from around the world, the majority of you are actually based in the US – and we couldn’t be happier to count you among our number. But are you happy to count Prince Harry among yours?
Four years after moving to California, paperwork filed this week confirmed the divisive Duke has made North America his primary residence. The formalisation of his departure from the UK doesn’t come as a great surprise, yet its predictability doesn’t lessen its significance: the fifth in the line of succession to the British throne has waved goodbye to Britain.
This sounds somewhat blunt but it’s hard to frame it less starkly. Whether Prince Harry is right to have filed the paperwork is another issue though.
On the one hand, given the US is where he has made his home since the start of the decade, not listing it as his primary residence could be seen as a touch odd. On the other hand, the timing of the move could be seen as being a little off – a snub to the Crown in a time of vulnerability and need? More philosophically, should a senior UK royal ever be primarily resident anywhere else than the UK?
The poll below is to get a snapshot of where the majority of your opinions lie. The comments are where you can flesh them out. We are mindful that these opinions may be pretty strong but please do articulate them kindly and respectfully. Kindness and respect are two of the foundational principles of this wonderful club of ours. We will of course report back on the results of the poll next week!
Oh, and if you missed them, here are Ainhoa and Emily’s terrific newsletters from earlier in the week. Both would go very nicely with your weekend coffee :)

The Hello! Royal Club Prince Harry poll
Yes he is certainly right, we do not want him or his wife here. Charles must take his titles away now and should have done so when all this started.
Yes, because it is. And I hope he stays there.
