Hello Royal Clubbers, it's Millie here.
Things have been rather hot here in the UK this week, but the royals have kept it cool throughout as they go about their duties.
But before we dive into the best royal pictures and the diary, let's take a little look back at some royal history.
On This Day…
On 5 July 1775, the Second Continental Congress drafted the Olive Branch Petition to King George III. This might sound a little dry if you haven’t heard of the petition before, but it was actually the final attempt by the 13 colonies of America to stop war being declared by the British king.
The petition aimed to affirm American loyalty to King George, but its efficacy was negated entirely by a document drafted a day later, called the Declaration of the Causes and Necessity of Taking Up Arms. A mouthful, I know. This document explained why the American colonies were taking up arms against the British, which rather conflicted with their previous attempts to avoid all-out conflict.
In any case, the Olive Branch Petition fell on deaf ears, as King George refused to read it, calling the colonists traitors.
Best Royal Pictures of The Week
Prince William
The Prince of Wales combined work and his personal passion on Monday when he visited the England women’s football team in his capacity as Patron of The Football Association, putting a number on a shirt for printing as he wished them luck ahead of the 2025 UEFA Women's Euros.
Queen Maxima
Not quite the glam outfit we’re used to seeing the Dutch queen wear, but it’s safe to say she ‘scrubbed up’ well during a visit to a hospital in the Netherlands on Tuesday, where she spoke about the importance of sustainability in medical care.
Queen Letizia
Is there a more glamorous European royal than Queen Letizia? I loved this style moment from Wednesday when she received a delegation from the Microfinanzas BBVA Foundation, which aims to achieve financial inclusion, at the Palacio de la Zarzuela.
Princess Beatrice
It was an afternoon of mother-daughter bonding at Wimbledon on Monday as Princess Beatrice was joined by her mother Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York for some tennis.
King Charles and Queen Camilla
A poignant moment for the King and Queen as they unveiled a memorial stone for the late Queen Elizabeth II, at St Giles' Cathedral in Edinburgh, Scotland on Wednesday, the second day of their visit to Scotland.
Danish and Swedish royals
A day which dawned bright and sunny as Scandinavian royals combined. Queen Mary, King Frederik, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia attended the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Øresund Bridge at Amager Strand on Tuesday.
Here’s a closer look at Queen Mary’s coral outfit – she certainly rivals Queen Letizia for fashion sense!
Dutch royals
Quite the summertime portrait. While the family dog appears less interested in the proceedings (see if you can spot him in the bushes!) the Dutch royals were all business on Monday for a photo call at the Huis ten Bosch Palace. King Willem-Alexander was joined by his wife Queen Maxima, and three daughters Princess Ariane, Princess Alexia and Princess Amalia.
Emperor Naruhito
Quite the impressive backdrop for the Japanese emperor, who spoke during a press conference in advance of his visit to Mongolia, at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo on Wednesday.
Princess Catherine
Princess Catherine made an unannounced visit to the RHS's Wellbeing Garden at Colchester Hospital on Wednesday, a visit which coincides with the donation of 50 Catherine's Rose plants, named after the Princess by the RHS, with funds from sales going to the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.
