King Charles welcomed the third prime minister of his short reign yesterday in the shape of Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer. Here’s a picture of the pair shaking hands in Buckingham Palace.
The relationship between monarch and prime minister is a somewhat strange but nonetheless symbolically important one, as Emily explained in her newsletter this week.
