Princess of Wales' Hallmark holiday fashion hits - and how to copy her look this Christmas
The Royal Shopper is beginning to feel festive...
Hello, Royal Clubbers, it’s Leanne here. I know it’s a little early but I’m getting excited about Christmas, but more specifically, Hallmark holiday movie season. I love nothing more than watching the big city girl return to her home town to be reunited with the small town boy she used to love. Throw in a hot chocolate and festive PJs, and I’m in my element.
With all that being said, I’m not here to talk about my fave Hallmark movies (though if you love them as much as I do, please let me know in the comments), I’m here to talk royals. So I thought I’d combine my love of a festive cozy movie with the Princess of Wales’ holiday wardrobe. Honestly, there are a lot of similarities.
Think about it – in a Hallmark movie, the main character usually wears a lot of red, plenty of green, cozy sweaters and a wow-worthy showstopper dress at the end. Do you know who else loves all of the above? Our beloved Catherine.
In a season defined by sparkle, warmth and sentimentality, the Princess of Wales’ fashion choices have become as synonymous with Christmas cheer as the scent of mulled wine.
Whether she’s hosting her annual Together at Christmas carol concert, attending a charity reception, or walking hand-in-hand with her family on Christmas morning at Sandringham, her ensembles are always Hallmark-worthy. And I for one, cannot wait to see what she brings us over the next couple of months.
Looking back over the years, we’ve had emerald sequins, tartan pleats and candy-red coats - these are the hallmarks of her holiday style.
Let’s take a trip down memory lane and I’ll try and find some lookalikes to inspire you.

The Green Showstopper
If there’s one image that captures Catherine’s festive glamour, it’s the dazzling emerald Jenny Packham gown she wore to the 2021 Royal Variety Performance. A river of sequins cascading to the floor, it shimmered like tinsel under the stage lights.
The Princess knows that a gown like this doesn’t need heavy styling. Her accessories were minimal, her hair softly waved.

The Red Coat
You’ll always find a red coat in a Hallmark movie, and the Princess of Wales is also a big fan of the red coat. Back in December 2024, Catherine stepped out for her third Together at Christmas carol service at Westminster Abbey wearing a statement scarlet coat that instantly set the internet alight.
The fit was perfect: a sharply tailored silhouette with structured shoulders, a cinched waist and a sweeping A-line hem. Red is, of course, the ultimate holiday hue, but Catherine made it look regal.
For anyone planning their own Christmas wardrobe, this is the lesson: a single, impeccably cut red coat is worth ten novelty jumpers.

The Tartan Skirt
Few fabrics say ‘British Christmas’ quite like tartan, and no one wears it better than the Princess of Wales.
Her Emilia Wickstead pleated midi skirt often strikes the perfect balance between heritage and high fashion.
When paired with a simple black cardigan, it’s both practical and pretty. Trust Catherine to make tartan feel nostalgic yet fresh.

The Tartan Scarf
And talking of tartan - in the world of royal fashion, where every appearance is meticulously planned, it’s these smaller details that resonate most.

The Red Puffer
Proof that even royals have a casual holiday mode. Seen at outdoor engagements and family days out, Catherine’s quilted jacket is her go-to for off-duty warmth, yet it never looks boring.
The bold crimson hue continues her holiday palette, while the clean tailoring and fitted shape keep the look elevated. She pairs it with slim jeans, chunky boots and, often, that megawatt smile that makes every outfit sing.
It’s the kind of ensemble that could easily slip into a Hallmark Christmas movie: the princess in her practical winter jacket, hot chocolate in hand, still effortlessly elegant.

The Gold Gown
And then there was gold. When the Princess arrived at the No Time To Die premiere in 2021 wearing a gilded Jenny Packham gown, jaws dropped, flashbulbs popped, and social media collectively gasped.
If her green sequin dress was holiday magic, this was pure cinematic royalty. The floor-length cape, the metallic sheen, the way the light clung to every sequin - it was a moment that transcended fashion.
Let’s face it, gold is not an easy colour but Catherine looked magnificent.

The Cosy Fair Isle Knit
The Princess of Wales owns Holland Cooper’s Fair Isle Knit sweater in cream and it’s definitely one of her favourites, having worn it on not one, not two but three occasions.
First, to read the CBeebies Bedtime Story in February 2022, in a promotional video for her Christmas Carol Concert in December 2022 and then during a video shot as part of her ‘Shaping Us’ campaign in 2023.
This might be one of her most Hallmark-inspired pieces, don’t you think?
