I'd appreciate some info: In between Queen Elizabeth I and Queen Elizabeth II came Elizabeth, wife of the King - Elizabeth II's father. George the VI. Why wasn't Queen Elizabeth II's mom, Elizabeth II, rather than her daughter? If the wives of kings are not related by blood to the royal family, how did the current wife of King Charles VII, Queen Camilla transfer from Queen Consort to Queen?
You don’t get a “number” unless you are the actual ruler. The only time England has had co-rulers were MaryII and WilliamIII. She was the rightful heir, but William refused to marry her unless he was declared King in his own right. ElizabethII’s mother was not a ruler, but a consort, so she didn’t get a number.
Thanks for the info, however, I wasn't referring to the "number", I was wondering what situation occurred where Queen Elizabeth's mom (also Elizabeth) did not become queen, but Camilla, named as Queen Consort, became Queen. I was under the impression that the only King or Queen of England was of royal blood. Since Camilla is not of royal blood, how is she Queen? No disrespect is intended.
This is what AI states "A queen consort is the wife of the reigning king and usually holds the feminine equivalent of her husband's royal titles. By contrast, a queen regent is a female monarch who rules in her own right, such as Queen Victoria or Queen Elizabeth II."

I think all the wives of kings are called queens, including the Queen Mother, when her husband was king. They are also Queen Consorts.
