Hi everyone.
You wouldn’t normally hear from me today, but I just had to share my thoughts in today’s newsletter.
It’s been another week, and another extraordinary moment in royal history. My analysis of the Princess of Wales’s searingly honest video message from last week is in the new issue of HELLO! out today, but today I wanted to take a closer look at her special bond with King Charles.
When he welcomed her to the family in a touching speech at her wedding reception, the then Prince of Wales told guests that Kate was the daughter he never had, adding “we are lucky to have her”.
Nearly 13 years on, his admiration and love for his “darling daughter-in-law” has only grown.
Responding to the Princess’s deeply moving announcement that she too is undergoing treatment for cancer, the monarch spoke of his pride in her “courage”.
A spokesman said the King and Queen would continue to offer their “love and support” to the Waleses and the wider family throughout this challenging time.
Since then, we’ve learned that the King and future Queen met for a private lunch a day before she shared her diagnosis with the world and that they’ve remained “in the closest contact” over the weeks since they spent time together as patients at the London Clinic.
There are many reasons why the King and his daughter-in-law get on so well.
