As you will have read, the Christmas plans for the royal residences have been announced – including a mega-tall Christmas tree.
I have to say, I’m currently in my Halloween season mood and enjoying the scary movies, cute decorations and costume planning for the end of the month – I’ve even been doing Halloween-themed paint-by-numbers. Not sure if this is a sign of madness or just me embracing the spooky spirit!
As soon as 31 October is over, though, the Christmas playlists start. So I’m not quite there yet, and it does feel a tad early to think about Christmas. But I respect that the thought going into the royal Christmas decorations requires more time than ordering a last-minute faux tree off Amazon.
A fond memory of Windsor at Christmas is seeing the castle illuminations, where they showcase images designed by children at St George’s Chapel – such a sweet idea! Also, Windsor at Christmas has really a cosy, festive feel – definitely worth paying a visit for some festive shopping…
It does feel wrong to be showcasing Christmas videos – but below is a preview of the Windsor Garter Tower illuminations…

Sorry for the seasonal whiplash, but King Charles’ team at Highgrove posted a summery Instagram reel from the glorious garden – I especially love the pink door! It gives a touch of summer nostalgia, as temperatures are still reaching 20 degrees in London (help). I’m confused about what season it is – daily…

Big fan of Christmas here. Once I put up Christmas decor, I never take them down. I love seeing reminders of Christmas all year around. When I was a young child, I remember the shops had Halloween decor in October, then in November we start seeing Christmas decorations. In December, we start seeing Santa Claus at department shops.
Regarding Prince George, I recall that his grandmother Diana also loved history. I loved seeing the Prince of Wales giving Eugene Levy a tour of Windsor Castle and going to the pub. I was surprised there was no paparazzi bothering them.
