Yesterday, I asked if you thought the royals do enough for the environment, and 81 per cent of you said yes.
One Royal Clubber, Chandra, commented that Prince William is continuing all the great work that his father did. I would agree, especially in light of Prince William’s current trip to Brazil for the Earthshot Prize.
Another Royal Clubber, Margaret, brought up an interesting point, asking why other royals don’t do more environmental work, as it seems that William and Charles do the most.
I would say one small way I notice other royals helping is when Princess Catherine or Princess Anne upcycle a lot of their outfits or rewear similar dresses. Yes, it’s a small contribution, however fast fashion is a huge contributor to environmental issues, so every small action counts!
Poll of the day
As you will have read, David Beckham received a knighthood today from King Charles at Windsor Castle.
It’s been a long time coming – 14 years – since David was first put forward for a knighthood in 2011. Notably, David received an OBE from the late Queen Elizabeth in 2003, highlighting his dedication to the royals over the years.
Personally I think David deserved a knighthood. The word ‘icon’ is overused but in David’s case it is utterly appropriate: his impact on the sporting and celebrity zeitgeist over the last three decades has been monumental.
It’s clear the royals have a lot of admiration for David too, and he has been pictured with them since the 1990s. I’m not saying one should receive a knighthood solely for ‘royal connections,’ but David has clearly worked hard to support the royal family for a long time and is a self-proclaimed ‘royalist’.
Who could forget David Beckham’s tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth in 2022, when he waited 12 hours to see her lying in state?
What are your thoughts on David receiving his knighthood? Let me know in the comments.
Picture of the day
Queen Máxima had an unexpected style moment in this rather unique, orange fuzzy top – a colour that is not often worn by many royals.
I love the off-shoulder design, as it blends the perfect mix of a vest top with a jumper. It looks super stylish and very cosy to wear!
