Princess Catherine and Prince William’s ‘forever home’ costs 59 times the average UK property
And the winner is…
In classic Monday fashion, I forgot to include the poll for the Duchess of Edinburgh’s floral outfit yesterday. To jog your memory, Sophie stepped out on her tour of South and Central America wearing a colourful, frilled floral dress.
So here was yesterday’s poll question, and I am still keen to hear your thoughts:
Poll of the day
As you will have read, Princess Catherine and Prince William’s ‘forever home’ at Forest Lodge is estimated to be worth a whopping £16 million. In the UK, the average property price in 2025 is valued at £269,000 (will I ever be able to buy a house?!). So the royals’ home is about 59.4 times that price.
There are some amenities which sort of justify the £16 million, as Forest Lodge has twice the number of bedrooms as their previous home, a tennis court and a lake.
It is also situated in Windsor’s Great Park. Growing up in Windsor, I have to say that these grounds are stunning and absolutely huge. I remember going on a walk with my friends past the Copper Horse at the end of the Long Walk, and you can actually go on a walk all the way to the village, which is like its own little world away from the town.
The only qualm I have about the royals living in a £16 million pad is that, as a younger person always trying to find common ground with the royals, this does slightly disconnect them. Though would I be living in a mansion with my own lake if I could? 100 per cent.
What are your thoughts? Should William and Catherine have chosen a slightly less grand house as their base?
