Back to William, and the NFL foundation was set up to help young people in disadvantaged areas through the power of sport, a cause close to the Prince’s heart.
During the visit William showed his sporty side while taking part in American football drills, and was even treated to a shout of “what an arm” by an onlooker. The Prince felt there was room improvement, though, and joked he would practice his skills at home and "see how many windows he could smash".
Phoebe Schecter, the GB women’s flag football team captain, attended the event too and didn’t seem to think much princely practice was needed. “His arm strength is incredible,” she said. “I could not believe how far he could throw the ball. He did a great job. Very coachable.”
Prince William also impressed Louis Rees-Zammit (below), a former Welsh rugby player who recently switched to NFL.
“He can throw the ball,” he said. “He can throw the ball better than me. He can get a good spiral on the ball as well, not like me!”
