Hello Royal Clubbers,
Prince William reunited with an old friend this morning – none other than sporting legend David Beckham. The pair met at RAF Northolt in west London, where they celebrated smashing their charity target of £15million, which went towards replacing London's ageing air ambulance helicopters with two brand new choppers.
William, as patron of London's Air Ambulance Charity, personally asked his friend David to be the public face of the Omaze house draw, which raised £4 million for the charity's Up Against Time helicopter appeal. The total target was £15 million but the fundraiser ended up collecting £16 million.
"We're here today to celebrate the success of the fundraiser for London's air ambulances, which is something close to my heart and has been for a number of years," David said.
"I'm an East End boy so every time we saw them in the air, it made us very proud. As soon as I was asked to be involved by Prince William, it was something I was very honoured to do in all honesty."
The pair experienced what it was like to sit in the cockpit of one of the new helicopters, which will deliver life-saving services to Londoners.
