Royal Clubber Alex was out in Baltic conditions at last night's Royal Variety Performance for the Waleses' grand return

Alex here, finally thawed out and still thinking about how incredible last night was, watching the Prince and Princess of Wales arrive at the Royal Variety Performance. I had a fixed point, and even though I’ve seen Prince William and Catherine many times through work, it’s always a thrill…especially being that close. It was also particularly special as it was my first royal engagement in the UK since taking on my royal news correspondent role.
It was a star-studded evening, with performers like pop star Jessie J and Grammy Award-winning singer Laufey hitting the red carpet outdoors. It was interesting to see how the photographers got to pick their position at this particular event – though I heard it’s not the norm – and to see the subtle change that was made to the carpet prior to William and Catherine stepping onto it.
