Hi everyone, it’s Emily here with my first weekly newsletter of the Autumn term - I hope you’ve all had a great summer.
The royal beat may have been a little quieter than usual over the past few weeks, but there has nevertheless been plenty happening behind the scenes and many of the royals are back at work this week, just like me!
Prince William is back out on manoeuvres now Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis have returned to school. Queen Camilla has a busy diary of engagements this week as the King continues his stay in Scotland.
But perhaps the most unexpected royal story of the week came over the weekend, when it was reported that the Duke of Sussex was speaking to former advisors in the UK, with a view to coming “back in from the cold” and carrying out some royal duties here.
I have a lot of thoughts about it all, but quite a few people were left scratching their heads over the story, which came days after Prince Harry made a top-secret return to this country to attend the funeral of his late uncle Lord Fellowes.
