The inspiration behind today’s newsletter is King Charles and Queen Camilla’s royal tour to Australia and Samoa, which kicked off on Friday morning.

King Charles is only the second reigning monarch to set foot on Australian soil, after his mother Queen Elizabeth became the first in 1954.

Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip pictured on 22nd February 1954 in Canberra after opening the Australian parliament. Prime minister Sir Robert Gordon Menzie is pictured in the background. The Queen wore her coronation gown for the occasion.
