The Crown's hair and makeup stylists share show secrets
The great lengths the crew go to... including with those all-important wigs
Hi everyone. It’s our honorary Royal Club author here, Emmy Griffiths.
I popped up a few weeks ago when I was chatting with Emily Nash about our reaction to Part 1 of the sixth and final season of The Crown (spoiler alert - we had mixed feelings about it, which you can listen to here).
And with Part 2 just around the corner, out on Thursday, I wanted to share an exclusive tidbit from my interview with some of the talent from the Netflix series.
I was lucky enough to drop by the gorgeous Langham Hotel in London last month, where I sat down with some of The Crown’s amazing behind-the-camera talent, including hair and makeup stylists, Cate Hall and Emilie Yong.
The ladies had an absolute trove of stories about the show, and it’s incredible to think about all of the hard work and attention to detail required to make the actors look as authentic as possible.
Of course, a big part of this is the wigs, and there is so much more to getting the right look for the stars than we ever could have imagined! I was genuinely surprised when the experts told me what goes into making the looks, and of course I wanted to share it with you, our lovely Royal Club members!
While you can catch the rest of my chat with Emilie and Cate on HELLO!’s A Right Royal Podcast, I saved something special just for you. Take a listen to the voice note below to find out which Addams Family character the wigs resemble before they are pruned, as well as which character’s hair Emilie and Cate most enjoyed styling for the final season – and it wasn’t Princess Diana’s!
Whose Crown wig do you think is the most impressive? Let us know in the comments below.
Oh, and if you really love The Crown, I nearly forgot to direct you to our quiz where you can find out how well you know the show.
