My top three takeaways from the state visit

It’s been a week of high stakes diplomacy, showstopping glamour and spectacular pageantry and I was lucky enough to watch some of it up close (in case you missed it, here’s my video report from Windsor on day 1).

From the Princess of Wales’s utterly dazzling appearance at the state banquet to her relaxed outdoors engagement with the First Lady, and from the King’s warm welcome to the President and the glowing tributes he received in return, there has been so much to take in.

Whatever your feelings about President Trump (and most of you didn’t think he deserved a second state visit), it made for compelling viewing and really put Britain in the global spotlight.
