LISTEN: Prince Henrik of Denmark's controversies
Queen Margrethe's late husband was a man who made headlines
All eyes will be on the Danish royal family tomorrow when Queen Margrethe of Denmark officially abdicates after 52 years of service. Daisy, as she is affectionately known, will be handing over the crown to her eldest son, Frederik, and his wife Mary.
I don't know about you, but Queen Margrethe's announcement on New Year's Eve came as a total surprise (as it did for my fellow Royal Club author Andrea, who shared a voicenote here). Talk about ending the year on a bang.
Making headlines is something that one member of the Danish royal family was always very accustomed to though – Margrethe's late husband Prince Henrik.
He made some rather outlandish claims before his death in 2018, some of which I wanted to revisit while the Danish royals are such a hot topic. One that immediately springs to mind was when he said he didn't want to buried alongside his wife.
Have a listen to my voicenote below and please share your thoughts in the comments section.
