LISTEN: Happy birthday to 'warm and kind' Duchess Sophie!
I caught up with one of her charities in celebration of her big day
One of my favourite members of the British royal family is celebrating her 59th birthday today – the Duchess of Edinburgh!
A big happy birthday to Sophie, who is often hailed as a truly kind, warm, and down-to-earth royal.
This week I had the pleasure of speaking to one of her patronages, DEBRA UK, the 'butterfly skin' charity that helps people living with a rare and painful skin-blistering condition, epidermolysis bullosa (EB).
Sophie has been patron of DEBRA UK since 2011, taking over the role from the late Diana, Princess of Wales. And one person she is in regular contact with is the charity's head of PR, Lindsey Puddifant.
I asked Lindsey what her first impressions were of meeting the Duchess a couple of years ago, and I'm pleased to say Sophie lived up to expectations.
