Inside Princess Märtha Louise and Durek's wedding
Behind the scenes at one of the most fascinating royal nuptials of all time
Hello Royal Clubbers,
It's Ainhoa here with my weekly newsletter.
You may have seen that over the weekend, Princess Märtha Louise of Norway and her fiancé Durek Verrett married in a spectacular wedding. We shared the first exclusive photo in this post.
Among the 350 guests who travelled to Geiranger in western Norway (an UNESCO World Heritage Site famed for its jaw-dropping waterfalls and mountains) were the bride's family – her parents King Harald and Queen Sonja, her younger brother Crown Prince Haakon, his wife Crown Princess Mette-Marit, and their two children Princess Ingrid and Prince Sverre. Not to mention Märtha Louise's three daughters from her first marriage to the late author Ari Behn – Maud, Leah, and Emma. Twenty-one-year-old Maud, by the way, had a very special role on the big day. More on that later.
Leading figures from royal families around the world also flew in for the three-day festivities, which included a "meet-and-greet" party on the Thursday night, a boat trip along Geiranger Fjord and a Latin American-themed bash on the Friday, followed by the main event on Saturday 31 August.
We had a lot of fun spotting the royal attendees in their ballgowns and tuxedos as they filed into the venue, Hotel Union, including Sweden's Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel of Sweden, and Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia.
HELLO! and our sister publication HOLA! had the exclusive rights to the wedding which means the full wedding album is available to see in this week's issue of HELLO!, out now.
For a more audial treat, my fellow Royal Club writer Andrea was on the ground in Norway and has sent us a voicenote of her wedding highlights which you can listen to later on in this newsletter.
And as trailed last week, if you want to see footage of Märtha Louise and Durek's cake cutting and first dance, please do upgrade to paid as we'll be sharing it with our paid subscribers tomorrow. Excitingly, The HELLO! Royal Club is the only place in which this most intimate footage can be viewed.
