In pictures: Charles' best moments of the year
The King has soldiered on despite his cancer diagnosis
Hi Royal Clubbers,
It's Ainhoa here with another edition of our Royal Round-Up of the Week.
Last week, I shared some of the best photos of Queen Camilla from the year so far, so it only made sense to look at the King's 2024 highlights.
The sovereign started off the year on the back foot after a form of cancer was discovered after a routine procedure on his prostate. But hard-working Charles was keen to get back on the royal road and ended up returning to public-facing duties in the spring. And let's not forget he was still quietly working away in the background from home, going through his red boxes and carrying out private audiences.
There was no "soft comeback" for the 75-year-old King, who packed in a whole host of grand events into his schedule, from Trooping the Colour, the Japan State Visit, and multiple appearances at Royal Ascot, to whirlwind trips to France and cities around the UK.
Below I’ve curated a selection of the most memorable King Charles pictures from 2024 so far. Take a look and, as ever, I'd love to hear which is your favourite in the comments.
And by the way, earlier this week I shared an interview with royal photographer James Whatling about his five favourite photos of Princess Catherine. James has been snapping the royals for 27 years so he had a few anecdotes to share, not to mention some stunning photos of Catherine that you can see here.
Return to public-facing duties - April
After revealing his cancer diagnosis in February, the King made his big return to public engagements less than two months later. He and his wife Camilla chose to visit the University College Hospital Macmillan Cancer Centre in London where the King met fellow cancer patients and empathised with their stories.
During one conversation, His Majesty confessed it was a "bit of a shock" when he was given his own diagnosis.
