It’s August and I’m getting ready to put my out of office notice up for a few weeks, so it feels like the right time to talk about royal holidays!
This is traditionally a quiet time for the royal family, just as it is for families across the UK as they make the most of the long school holidays to get away. But what does rest and relaxation look like for the King and his family?
If you’re picturing draughty Scottish castles and lots of time spent outdoors in the fresh air, you’d be right. But the annual summer gathering at Balmoral is far from the whole picture.
Intriguingly, the royals do manage to enjoy plenty of holidays elsewhere while remaining firmly under the radar.
