Harry and Charles' lack of reunion 'not a shame'
The poll results are in and the majority feel there's no love lost between father and son
The Duke of Sussex is travelling to the UK in a matter of days for his High Court trial against the publisher of the Daily Mail, Associated Newspapers Limited. It’s not known how long Harry will be in his home country for, but what is certain is that he will not meet up with his father King Charles.
In our poll sent out last week, we asked whether it was a shame that father and son are not reuniting face to face. (The King is expected to be in Balmoral, Scotland where he typically retreats for a few weeks after Christmas).
At the time of writing, 63% responded “No”, it is not a shame, while 37% responded “Yes”.
The comments were a little more revealing.
One Royal Clubber argued that surely Charles could spare a few hours to make the trip down to London to see his son. “If Diana were alive, she would have dropped everything to see Harry. Nothing that was written in the book (Spare) was not true. It had to come out eventually! So C3 should show the world he can have a big heart and welcome his son home.”
What’s more, the King’s continued illness is another compelling reason for the monarch to see his son who lives halfway across the world and rarely comes home. One Royal Clubber wrote: “Life is short and Harry’s father, the monarch, has been through a nightmare of chemo and for this reason and more it would be fortunate if a short visit could be arranged... We do not know our future, but we do know life if short.”
However, the majority, as reflected in the poll results, felt that Harry still owes his father and the rest of the royal family an apology first. Bridges need to be rebuilt fully before friendly family reunions can be put in the diary. One Royal Clubber simply said: “He needs to apologise first for his outrageous comments on the Royal Family.”
Another agreed: “He needs to first apologise for everything he had said and done to upset his father, brother and his sister-in-law before coming nearer to any meet ups. Our King Charles III is not well enough to deal with further stress especially from this so-called son of his.” There were even calls to strip Harry of his Duke of Sussex title.
Future reunions
Well, we do know that Harry and Charles’ relationship is improving, and they are in somewhat regular contact. The last time they saw each other was in September 2025, for an hour over tea at Clarence House. It had been 19 months since they had last met.
It may not be another 19 months before father and son reunite, but given the gradual thawing, four months is perhaps a little too soon to meet face to face again.

Harry has shown that he can't be trusted to not reveal information from visits with his family. Additionally, he has gone out if his way to malign them in public. I don't know how he can be forgiven for that.
