I think Harry's team sets up engagements for him specifically to coincide with engagements on William's calendar. Harry's charities are dwindling and he is finding it harder to find places that want him. The "Royal " model of charitable support doesn't work when you are a single person trying to do it on your own. The cost of support staff, travel, fund raisers, wining & dining other celebrities to encourage their participation in the charity is very high. This is all much higher than when Harry was plugged into the Royal machinery that had the advantage of economies of scale because they were doing this for all of the Royals and they have all the connections. Harry is slowly slipping into the category of a "has been" Royal. Fergie & Andrew are has been Royals. They have all lost that glow that being Royalty gives you. Megs refused it by not playing by the rules, so she never really had the glow.
Bottom line: H & M can schedule all they want to compete with William & Catherine, but William and Catherine are the real deal. William and Catherine care about their people and would not dessert them as the Monticito Mountbatten Windsors have . I think that given the way that Harry and Meghan walked out on their country, they are not deserving of an kind of support, including police protection, when they come to the UK on business. It should be their business expense, not an expense paid for by the people of the UK and the Commonwealth. If the King wishes to cover their protection when, if ever, they bring the kids for a family visit, he may certainly choose to do that. I can't see where Harry is due anything from the tax payers. He has made his choice, now he needs to live with it.
