Hi Royal Clubbers, it’s Iona here.
First up, here’s the best of the royal coverage over on HELLO! today.
Zara Tindall’s figure-hugging pencil dress is her most ‘eye-catching’ yet
Prince William steps into statesman duties in under-the-radar meeting at Windsor Castle
Princess Catherine’s ‘indie’ faux hair look she never repeated – 9 years on
Slow Horses star set for ‘emotional’ honour this week
And the winner is…
In yesterday’s poll, I asked if you watched Princess Anne’s wedding on TV – 58 per cent said they had!
It certainly looked like quite the spectacle – and while the next royal wedding will be that of Peter Phillips and Harriet Sperling, sadly it won’t be televised.
Poll of the day
As you will have read, Gary Oldman today received a knighthood for his outstanding contributions to drama across film, television and theatre at Buckingham Palace.
While his role as cantankerous spy chief Jackson Lamb in Apple TV+’s Slow Horses has brought Gary a legion of new fans, in my eyes his legendary status was cemented when I was studying drama in Stratford-upon-Avon a few years ago.
Gary is of course an esteemed member of the Royal Shakespeare Company and my acting group was connected with the company. We would often hear stories about some of the great roles he played – and even the pubs he may have nipped into after a show.
I think he is thoroughly deserving of a knighthood as his career has spanned so many decades and his roles have been so diverse. Who can forget his Oscar-winning performance as Winston Churchill in 2017’s Darkest Hour?
Do let me know in the comments if you have a favourite Gary Oldman film…
Picture of the day
I know Royal Clubbers love a Princess Catherine fashion moment – and this picture of the day was a very 2000s fashion moment from 2014!
In it, Catherine is wearing a headband made of faux hair – a fashion choice one perhaps wouldn’t make in 2025. However, I like the fact Catherine wasn’t afraid to experiment with fun hair trends. While she now tends to favour a more classic headband, the ‘indie princess’ aesthetic felt fresh and youthful at the time.
Tuesday’s puzzles

Oldman is a very skilled actor with many special gifts. I loved The Darkest Hour; however, my favorite Oldman film is The Professional.
