Hi everyone, it’s Emily here with my weekly newsletter. I’ve been somewhat blown off course this week after testing positive for Covid again, so I’m writing this holed up at home, but I wanted to tell you all about a very special opportunity I had last week.
As you’ll have seen on Monday, I got to sit down with Princess Eugenie to discuss the work of the brilliant Blue Marine Foundation, a cause very close to her heart, and a unique art auction taking place this week to raise funds for it.
Our meeting came hot on the heels of the very happy news that her big sister, Princess Beatrice, is expecting another baby with husband Edoardo Mapelli-Mozzi. So when I arrived at Christies, the celebrated London auction house where the stunning artworks are on display, I had a clear idea of what I wanted to ask her about.
It’s not the first time I’ve met the Princess – I was first introduced to her and her husband Jack Brooksbank by her mother Sarah, Duchess of York, at a fundraiser for the charity Street Child back in 2018, just a few weeks after their wedding, which I covered at Windsor.
Nevertheless, knowing that both she and I had tight deadlines to meet, I felt a degree of pressure to tick through my questions fairly fast!
But in the short time we spent together, I have to say Eugenie thoroughly impressed me.
