As the stars of the Crown gathered a few miles away at the Royal Festival Hall for the premiere of the last-ever instalment of The Crown last night, back at Buckingham Palace, the real people depicted in the series quietly outshone their TV counterparts.
After a week of drama and controversy surrounding the publication of Endgame, the King, Queen and Prince and Princess of Wales sent a clear message of unity with a single photograph (taken by the always brilliant Chris Jackson at Getty Images).
With the King and his heir in white tie and the Queen and Princess both dazzling in diamond tiaras and jewels once owned by Queen Elizabeth II, they appeared smiling, very together and rather glamorous to boot.
